Nick is a Chartered Accountant and has worked in the accountancy and legal professions for over 25 years. He has vast experience in advising UK and multi-national businesses on their VAT affairs. Clients with and without in-house taxation expertise call upon his knowledge and experience. He also provides services as an expert adviser to the accountancy and legal professions.
Nick recognises that many clients and professionals approach VAT legislation with some trepidation. His skills enable clients to understand the impact of indirect tax regulations, to stay on top of the recent developments, ensure that they remain compliant, and are able to structure transactions so as to benefit from the available exemptions and reliefs.
Nick has experience across a range of sectors including real estate, international goods and services, not for profit, tourism and technology. He is also a specialist in Landfill Tax legislation, having advised a number of the UK’s leading waste management companies.
Nick is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is Chair of the VAT Committee of the Tax Faculty of the Institute and a member of the Joint VAT Consultative Committee, meeting regularly with HMRC and contributing to the development of VAT policy. He has lectured frequently on the conference circuit and has presented to the VAT Practitioners Group Annual Conference and at the Annual Conference of the Institute's Tax Faculty.
Before joining PKF Littlejohn, Nick spent 10 years as a partner at PwC and then established an independent indirect tax practice.
