Howard is a business tax Partner with almost 30 years' experience in the insurance sector.
Formerly with two of the Big Four, Howard has advised both listed and private insurance businesses on the direct and indirect tax implications of Brexit, group and corporate restructuring, anti-avoidance issues, transfer pricing, tax structured finance, and tax governance. He has significant experience of M&A transactions, structuring and integration.
Howard was Aon’s Director of Tax for 10 years during its period of significant expansion. He has advised on the establishment of UK and overseas insurance operations, captive insurance companies, the formation of Lloyd’s syndicates and managing agencies, Solvency II, the Senior Accounting Officer regime and corporate criminal offence tax evasion. Recent work includes advising on and assisting with the implementation of Brexit structures, transfer pricing and corporation tax restrictions on interest payable and loss utilisation.
